The shop that had installed PPF and Ceramic Coating on my EVs over the years, Renu Auto, has always included me in invitations to gather with other car owners. Because I knew that most of their customers were enthusiasts of classic muscle cars, I hadn’t ever decided to participate, but this time I figured… why not? Yes, mine would likely be the only electric vehicle on the lot, but perhaps I could pique some interest among them in what EVs have to offer.

Here is the invitation that Renu Auto sent to me via e-mail. I can only suppose that Reece Parker is one of their many customers and had consented to host the gathering at his art studio.

I have to admit: I was impressed to see how many car enthusiasts showed up, and how open and friendly they were. I've never seen a Drive Electric or Earth Day gathering with so many attendees. I noticed that many of them were wearing badges as members of the Intermountain Porsche Club, and in fact there were numerous Porsches in the parking lot.

This Ferrari belongs to Reece Parker and thus was in the place of honor at the back of the shop.
Reece's Porsche was parked right next to it. They were both truly gorgeous classics.
There was also a pristine Victory motorcycle at the entrance to the shop.
The group had arranged for a caterer to provide an impressive array of delicatessen foods on a table near the entrance. I wish our EV gatherings would take a leaf out of their book!
I had brought Moxie with me, and she was the center of attention. She adores people, and was begging everyone to give her pets.
I took this photo from the back of the studio while folks chatted and enjoyed the food.
Outside you could see some of the classic cars, with even more around the corner in the larger lot. If you look closely, you can see my Ioniq 5 all the way in the back behind some Corvettes.
Like I said, there were numerous Porsches there, but also some Mustangs.
Here is a closer look at the Corvettes in front of my Ioniq 5. I did get a chance to talk with several attendees about electric cars. As you can imagine, what intrigued those muscle car enthusiasts the most was the power and speed that they boast. And several of them did express how very good looking my EV was. Maybe because it does have something of a “classic” look to its styling…?
Ironically, the only other electric car there was one for kids, so… I let Moxie take a turn in the driver’s seat.
I am glad I attended the gathering, even though I truly was the “odd man out.” I was a bit surprised that nobody had brought a Porsche Taycan or a Mustang Mach-E, but I assume that it will undoubtedly happen over the coming years as electric vehicles gain more popularity and a larger share of the market. Let’s hope! I’ll likely respond to future invitations to these gatherings in the future just to see if that is the case.
