Purposely created as a study tool to accompany Prójimos, Trivialidades is a software program to help users learn and retain the numerous names, dates, events, maps, timelines, concepts, and other relevant facts covered in the e-text.
In addition to an updated design and new questions, version 3.0 boasts many features unavailable in earlier versions of the software. For example:
- The software now runs in any browser and platform that has the free plug-in utility Adobe Shockwave.
- The software randomly selects and orders questions for multiple-choice quizzes from a large database —and thus no two quizzes are ever identical.
- For each quiz, players choose one of the following subject areas to practice —which correspond to the chapters in Prójimos. There are also quizzes that combine multiple topics at the same time, with a larger number of questions.
- La geografía
- La prehistoria
- Los olmecas y mayas
- Los toltecas y aztecas
- Los mochicas e incas
- Otros nativos
- El descubrimiento
- La conquista
- Intercambios culturales
- Las colonias
- La independencia
- El siglo XIX
- El siglo XX
- La actualidad
After a quiz has ended, the software displays the scores achieved, permits players to review their errors, and provides options to copy or submit the results, start a new quiz, or quit.
- Students can transmit their scores as homework assignments via the web to authorized instructors directly from within the program —provided the computer has a working internet connection.
- I purposely designed the software to be as user friendly as possible. Other than when entering their names and e-mail addresses to submit quiz results, students need only know how to click the mouse to identify the subject areas they wish to practice, choose their answers, and quit the program.
If instructors are interested in using this program in their classes, they merely need to contact me via the e-mail link at the bottom of this page, or by writing to yanquetino [at] casteyanqui [dot] com with their own preferred e-mail program. I will gladly make the program available to them via a dedicated web page with username and password.
As a service to the profession, I am happy and willing to make these materials available to educators and their students free-of-charge. There is no obligation, but if you find them useful and informative, you might consider making a token donation to support my efforts.
